One ache at a time

Doctor says that "it's nodda tooomah"</arnie>. Basically, there's nothing terribly wrong with my head. Some neck tension, but unsure if this is a cause or a symptom of the sore head. Cut back on, but not totally give up, blessed caffiene.

In other news, I spoke to my mother about registering to vote in the upcoming US Elections, for the sole purpose of voting for anyone who falls into the "Not Bush" category. While I am, apparently, eligible to do so (what with being a US citizen and all, shocking as that is to admit), there ain't no such thing as a free lunch (or a free "Not Bush" vote). The catch - US Income Tax Records. That's right boys and girls, I'd have to start doing US Tax return forms from now until the end of time (including back-dating for all my years of earning thus far). Which, incidentally, cannot be done from June 30th to June 30th as is the case in Australia - it must be done from January 30th to January 30th. Recalcutating, finding records, keeping records... All the rest of it. For ever.

As much as I would hate to miss out on an opportunity to vote for the "Not Bush" party, I have to wonder if it really, really would be worth all the effort. Don't misunderstand, I'm all for a democratic society, I just don't feel that one person's vote (namely mine) really makes all that much difference in the long run. In Australia I vote correctly (no donkey votes for me!) every time I am made to, but I don't see that it really changes a damn thing.

The rest of my life, in summary: Jye and I have been filling our evening playing "Chapions of Norrath", or what ever it's called. Quite fun, really. Tonight, dishes! Tommorrow, mousebane's 7th Sea game! (Big yay!) Next week, my DnD game!... D'Oh! In other news, I crave cheesecake. A whole lot. Serves me right for not having breakfast.

She's wrong.

My Dad claimed me as a dependent on his US Tax up until 2 years ago, and since then I've been submitting US income tax forms. Its not hard at all, actually. You're able to earn up to $80 000USD before you have to start paying tax, so you just whack that down, add up what you've earned in a calendar year, convert it to USD using the yearly exchange rate as calculated by the federal reserve bank, write yourself an equivalent of a group certificate, and send it off. Eaaaasssssyyyy.

..but if you work out how to vote, let me know!

I think, if you're a citizen, you go to the US Consulate (or whatever the hell it's called) on St Kilda Road and ask for some forms to registar to vote, then mail them off. You might need a social security number or something.

And thanks for saying my mother is wrong. It warms my heart when people do that. :)

Please, please, please find a way. That one more vote for "Not Bush" might be all it takes.

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that I only want to give my vote to the party here that will do away with HECS debts. Hmmm. Not seeing any on the horizon. Anyone think I can garner enough support as an independent to make it into Federal politics with the aim of making it better for people in Australia who have taken the time and money to get an education?

Would you extend membership to undead and goblinoid races as well?

Re: hearsay
Well, that's debateable, as Florida was the state where I think several thousand black voters were apparently turned away from the polling booths, which would suggest that the living dead and those with a greenish cast to the skin would probably also have been turned away. On the flip side of course, it would appear that the votes in Florida were counted by a tribe of orcish dirt eaters, as they had to recount how many times?
