Job Description & Selection Criteria
Targeted Disciplines:
Biochemistry or Microbiology

Selection Criteria:
- Knowledge of Biochemistry and Microbiology. Knowledge of plant physiology and/or parasitology will be highly regarded.
- Science or Honours degree – with a major in Biochemistry or Microbiology or a partly completed post-graduate science degree in a relevant area.
- Laboratory based experience in the practice of basic biochemical and molecular methods relevant to plant physiology and/or parasitology.
- Familiarity with searching the web and on-line learning object repositories (eg. MERLOT, CAREO, ARIADNE).
- Good written communication skills.
- An understanding or interest in educational theory/PBL/educational design.

Job Description:
We are looking to employ a Research Assistant to assist in writing educational modules for an on-line learning environment. The modules will be used to enhance the teaching and learning of particular biochemical theories and laboratory techniques. The design of the modules will follow an existing template. The appointee will also be expected to search for existing learning objects (images, animations, movies etc) that will be incorporated into the modules as learning resources.

The position is for a period of six months. The working hours are negotiable with the expectation of a minimum of 15 hours per week.

If it helps further, the Databases referred to are easily found through a Google search and are basically archives of animations and other useful things people have used as Lecture Material.

Also, I'm not sure if you can fit in 15 hours a week into your schedule, but it may stop you from having to live on Mi Goreng noodles if you can, like the people at www.phdcomics.com
