However! There is more to this story than the usual DDR debrief.
There were these two guys, one of which I think works there, who we traded use of the DDR8 machine with all night. They were good. Not threateningly, "ohmygodhe'safuckingninja" good, but humanly, skillfully good. Quite cute in their own way - one of asian descent and the other in a l337 shirt.
They had obviously been doing a whole lot of playing and practicing in their time. Anyway, matcha_pocky and I started off on the machine and after a few games we let these guys on. They made a little small talk and we fled the scene, fearful of their goodness. When we came back, one of the guys had put credit on the machine before he noticed us. They dutifully stood aside, giving us their juicey DDR credit. A noble, chivalrous act in today's hectic and selfish society, I might add.
So matcha_pocky and I play some games, and after a while the boys were back (probably after getting something to drink or what have you - DDR is hard work). To square thing up, matcha_pocky put two credits on the machine for the boys, one of whom then promptly reached into his wallet and handed me an old cashcard with the line, "I'm not sure how much credit is on it".
I was chuffed! (As an aside, I ogt all excited because the card had written on it $23 followed by a smiley face, but as it happens it only had something like $3 - but it was the thought that counts). We traded machines with them one more before the evening was through, and I found them to be really nice guys.
So, yeah. Kinda cute guys, good and DDR, and nice to boot? Sounds like a perfect combination to me, even if it is just for eye-candy. (Not to mention, as gadge pointed out, the fact that I found them attractive almost guarantees that they are gay).
So who's up for more DDR next tuesday evening? :)
