Guess my favourite characters.

1. Post a list of 10 TV fandoms/shows you follow (current or cancelled!)
2. Have your friends list guess your favorite CHARACTER from each show
3. When guessed bold the line and write a sentence about why you like that character
4. Post in your own livejournal.
(I've included anime, because I am Nerdy McGeek. Also, I was really pushing it to come up with 10 different shows, so excuse some of the more random selections... Also! Some of these are not 'regular' characters, but memorably guest stars.)

1. Fruits Basket
Kyo Sohma! Guessed by someone who apparently wishes to remain anonymous. A talented martial-artist, Kyo is the ultimate misunderstood bad-boy (and, to a certain extent, comic relief character). He is snarky, but only because he does not wish to appear weak. He pushes people away, but only so as not to hurt them. His relationship with Tohru is a tender, understated thing, which shows a gentleness he does not want most people to know about. Oh, and he is the Cat from the chinese zodiac. :)

2. Futurama
Dr Zoidberg! Guessed by arcanumveritas. How could I not like Zoidberg? He is a medium for comedy in the series, with most of the funniest lines/scenes being from him, about him or around him. I also identify with his hopelessness a lot of the time, and understand his despairation to try to pretend he is something he is not. Also, Zoidberg is probably one of the nicest and most sympathetic characters in the show, and one of the few who seem to have a conscience left.

3. Simpsons

4. Neon Genesis Evangelion

5. Buffy The Vampire Slayer

6. Babylon 5
Marcus. Guessed by disignadrug. This one is so obvious I was reluctant to put it in. Marcus is the Aragorn of Bab 5 (but much younger and more attractive) - he is a human ranger who hangs out with the elf-equivalents. There is something about the whole knight in shining armor thing which appeals to the fangirl in me. Marcus epitomises things both idolised and dispised in men. Also, unicorns.

7. Original Star Trek
Captain James T. Kirk. Guessed by arcanumveritas. This is another pretty obvious one, but only if you take circumstance into perspective. I started watching original Trek when I was about 10 (right around the time I started on TNG as well - cable TV in Canada is a wonderful thing). I saw it exactly as it was originally concieved - 'a wagon train to the stars', a Western in Space. In that mindset, I was drawn (obviously) to the space cowboy who was obviously the 'hero' of the story, and latched to him only in the way that a 10 year old can. I guess I have no real justification for it, only that I decided he was my favourite character when I was little and stubborn, and now I don't seem to be able to change my mind.

8. Iron Chef
Iron Chef Japanese, Roksabaru Michiba. Guessed by punk_rock_nerd. He is an honest, quiet sort of a chef with a twinkle in his eye and a very fast blade. He doesn't resort to the flashy showmanship of Sakai or Kenichi (French and Chinese), but rather relies on the honesty of his cooking. He is humble in victory and gracious in defeat. Truly, he deserves the honour of "Iron Chef".

9. Excel Saga

10. South Park
