Wedding conundrums

So I had lunch today with my father, who art in Rye. We started talking about nuwishas_tail's wedding (as you do) when he mentioned the need for a costume that he, as yet, has been unable to track down.

Does anyone (I feel compelled to look to baralier on this one) out there know where he (through myself, if need be) can acquire/hire an American Civil War Union soldier/officer's uniform? It's either that, or he's coming as a viking.

I'm sure you can understand that ladies such as myself prefer a gentleman to be in uniform, rather than furs...

mmm, marine whites
Still have photographic evidence of this!
Also have shots of Baralier in Ozzie whites (which in a creepy kind of way belonged to a man that would one day be my boyfriend - its a small world yes?)

Best place for military uniform hire would be Warwick Firearms & Militaria in East Malvern. Not sure whether they can supply ACW uniforms but give them a call: 9569 4329.

I've got a couple of patterns for ACW jackets which may be an alternative depending on how far away the wedding is.

Also worth checking out Costume Capers (which now owns the old J.C. Westend Costume Hire). I'd guest it would be a fairly common request.

Warwick's sems to me the best place to hire a costume.

Patterns also available in the costume section of American pattern companies like McCalls and Simplicity (also available to order online but big Spotlight stores might have them in stock). I seem to recall the McCalls etc patterns are a bit easier/quicker to sew than the original stuff.
