The worst kept secret EVA!

I may have said something about running a game at Unicon this year... in what could be described as 'not my wisest moment'. If I do run it, it will be a fae game of some description, as it has been too long since I ran one, and it may ir may not be run in conjuction with fae games run by bishi_wannabe and mousebane.

As I am still undecided, I thought I might turn to you, the public, on this matter. I hereby present you a poll!

Should I run a Fae game at Unicon 2005?

Yes! Dooooo it!
No! For the love of God, NO!
No - write your thesis you bad girl.
Yes. And write your thesis at the same time, with your enormous science-brain.
Kill them all and take their stuff
No; run a different, trendier game for all of the cool kids

The power is yours! (Actually I act contrary to what the public decides because I am a bad person...)

Of course, I answer in ignorance of your present state of mental health. But there's always another con to write for, whereas the chance to study at this level may not come again. *sigh* It's a pressuring question to put on your friends you know, luckily that's what we're here for. :)

You know you're going to be sitting around that weekend wishing you were at the con...

In my unbiased *cough* opinion as a Con Org, I say DO IT :)

Fae gunbunnies with enormous science-brains, killing thesis' for fun and profit. It'd be different... if the cool kids disagree, take their stuff.

Didn't you swear blind to not write/run anything until you'd finished? And ask pretty much everyone at conquest to beat you if you tried to?

Go and play instead :)

That was in the Before Time, the Long Long Ago.

That was before I realised how bad I felt to go to a con, even briefly, that I had nothing to do with. To sit there and listen to other people's stories and anecdotes and feel like I was missing out on something fragile and beautiful and unobtainable. To feel like I no-longer belonged.

I don't know... I'm getting the feeling that going back to playing at cons, instead of running games (as much as I hate it), is going to be a little flat for me. A little like decaf low fat soyacino coffee - what's the point?

Hmmm. The missing out thing, I can see. Damn you, jerking out my high moral ground from beneath me.

On playing though - um, perhaps bit harsh on the talents of the other writers at the con? Its a significantly different vibe and sort of emotional commitment, I'll grant, but ew, soy? :) More like shifting back from high quality methamphetamines to nice coffee... its not the same buzz, but still good.

I have trouble getting motivated into a game these days myself - too many games that were ok, but didn't fire the blood... but I played the game of mousebane and hege_mon at Conquest this year and it was cool - at the end, it reminded me why I don't have to be the source of the story to have a great time....

I felt like that at this years' Conquest. First glance at the stuff on offer, and only poker stood out in my mind. Kind of sad, really.

As one of your chosen assassins, i must warn you of my obligation should you decide to run a con game before you do your thesis...

I'd take you. I'd take you and win, snapping your neck Xenya Onatop style.

Besides, the timing is such that I may just desperately need a diversion from the thesis to not go (more) insane. Cut me some slack.

Ahhh... but what a way to die...
