If I Could Give You One Book

If you could give a person one book and one book only to change their lives, what book would you give them and why? Add one to the list below with your reasons, then post the list entire in your lj with your addition.

1. Beauty by Sheri Tepper. Beauty is a book that everyone should read. Couched in terms of both modern and ancient fairy tale, the message cuts to the heart of what it means to be human and where humanity is heading. A morality tale at its strongest and most passionate. recommended by bonesinger

2. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. I reread this book every couple of months. Bradbury's intricate prose and vision of a future without books where conversation is considered an oddity and his characterisation of everyman Guy Montag gets me every time. recommended by oonahmoon

3. Illusions by Bach Richard. This book took me a long while to get my hands on, because my brother insisted of playing a long-running cruel joke on me. When I finally got to read it, however, I was surprised by it. It is a story within a story, and a guide to life. The tag-line is "The Adventures Of A Reluctant Messiah", and I can't explain it any more than that. I found it eye-opening, and life-changing. Recommended by miss_rynn.
