"Let me sew, let me sew, let me sew..."

I woke up at 3 this morning because the wind and the rain from the storm were so loud and fierce that it sounded like the snarling of a terrible beast. Which was cool once I realised I was not about to be eaten, but it was less cool when I was still awake at 4.30 am. Then I had nightmares. Go me.

"Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let me sew, let me sew, let me sew."

I'm on a sewing kick again. First goal, to finish off a certain costume I started ages ago, including a jerkin, a cloak and a loose shirt. The cloak is basically done as of this morning, with only really the clasp and the bottom hem to go. I'm actually quite impressed with how it's gone, given I wasn't working from a pattern. Likewise the jerkin, which really only needs some tailoring (I've made it far too sack-like for my purposes, and need to take it in at the waist to give it a bit of a flattering shape. Mind you, what do you expect from not working from a pattern). The shirt, meanwhile, is one of those loose fitting white peasant-type arrangements, which will only need the sleeves attached and some hemming. All very simple stuff.

After that, I have plans for a short tabbard, a longer tabbard, another cloak (a warmer one), and a few other bits and pieces. I'm looking forwards to the detailing parts, embriodery and beading and such, even though they are the more tedious and boring parts.

The next step; to find events where I can wear elven-styled costumes. Because I am a big fat nerdy nerd.
