Presentation! I'm going to be giving a presentation of my work to a delegation from Tsurumi University (Kanagowa, Japan) on the first of August in a mini seminar to be held in my department. This is kind of exciting for me, because if I come across as being all professional and stuff there is a small chance that I will be invited to Japan for a similar seminar. Aparently, there is a sister-shcool relationship between Melbourne Uni and Tsurumi Uni, but this was news to everybody in the department. So, in any case, I'll be giving a 20 min presentation of the best parts of my work, and endevouring to act very polite and humble.
GenCon! There are some folk thinking about going to GenCon next year, including bishi_wannabe. I'm probably not going to be able to go, seeing as how there is no way I will be able to afford it. I would be in two minds about going, anyway; I mean, yes, it'll be an experience like no other, with more gamers than you can find anywhere else... but on the other hand, the style I enjoy may not be the American style, and the more games there are the more CRAP games their are, and I have enough problems dealing with the sheer number of gamer-skanks at little Melbourne cons... I don't know.
LotR on CD! I ap up to The Forbidden Pool in The Two Towers. I'd just like to say that I am totally a Faramir fan girl. Appologies to bonesinger. :P
Similarities! There is a girl, a new PhD student I think, who works here who reminds me of a taller version of aeliel. They have the same mannerisms and the same speach patterns... it's all a little weird. In a good way, though.
