BPAL clearout

We all know that I have too much BPAL, and that I am rather on the poor side at the moment. We also know that I am a rampant enabler! To that end, I present to you my first round of my imp-box-clearance sale!

Individual General Catalogue imps cost $3 US from the lab, so I'm offering this lot for $4 AUS each (given the current exchange rate).

GC Imps for sale:

Black Phoenix
Come to Me
De Sade
Dirty
Katharina
Lilith
Maenad
Marquise de Mertruil
Othello
Rosalind
Scarecrow
Zombi

Limited Edition scents are only avaliable from the lab in 5mL bottles (usually costing about $20 US). Imps (or decants) of these scents are routinely sold on forums and eBay for around $5 US an imp, so at the current exchange rate these will be offered for $7 Aus an imp.

LE Imps for sale:

Chaste Moon (A Little Lunacy)
Milk Moon x2 (A Little Luncay)
Khajurajo (Valentine's Day 2006)

All of these imps have been tested once or twice but are still very full - I wouldn't want to rip you guys off! Leave a comment to reserve your precious, and we'll work out when to meet up to exchange imps for cash.

And I forgot to answer your first question! Ooops!

At the moment I am studying two anaerobic oral bacteria responcible for periodontitis (advanced gingivitis). One of them is related to the bacteria which causes syphilis. Anyway, it's not glamourous work - I'd much rather be studying Menigicoccus, or some other bug which causes a serious disease and actually *needs* cures found for it. Or discovering new bacteria or something.

Anyway, the whole point of my thesis is determining what role Treponema denticola plays in periodontitis. It hasn't been looked at in any great detail in the past because it's a hard bacteria to grow and work with. Consequently, while it is associated with the disease, no one has actually established a causal link.

As for my progress, I've got one more major (three month long) experiment to do, and a whole bunch of little ones. Oh, and I have to write it up. :)

Nice...

It might not be as important as meningitis... but a lot of people suffer from perindontitis... whether due to bad oral and dental hygiene... or hypothetically due to premature birth and the mother's predisposition to the disease.

I'm no expert... I've just been warned since childhood of my predisposition to gum disease... as I cannot get any cavities due to the alkalin-ness (bear with me on that word) of my saliva... or something like that.

So... 3 more months to go... makes for a nice X-Mas present to yourself, yes... the completion of your thesis.

That's when I finish the *research*. Who know when I'll actually hand it in? :) To be fair, I'd like to hand it in as soon as possible. I've been doing it for far too long now.

But I'm an idealist at heart. I do the whole science thing to try to make the world a better place, so ideally I'd like to do something with more of an *impact*. Sure, perio can lead to low birth weight and premature birth and all the rest of it, and maybe even heart disease, but... well, nastier diseases are cooler to work on, and have a higher chance of giving you thr warm and fuzzies if you make a breakthrough. :)

HAHAHHAHAH...

oh... diseases that give you warm fuzzies... hilarious...

you do have a sense of humor about you... got to, when you spent the better part of your life working of this, right?

I'm sending you my leftover hardworking writing vibes your way... left from my masters' days... when I couldn't wait to finish typing the damn thing (let alone proofread it)... and submitting it.
