Identification problems!

I took a photo of this statue at the Louvre, and can't remember which goddess she is:

If anyone can tell me, I'd appreciate it!

Judging by the sickle, I'd guess Demeter/Ceres

I don't think so, because I would have remembered if it were a goddess I was familiar with. The internet is suggesting that it might be Hestia.

Also a possibility. The inscription on the statue's base remains tantalizing illegible to me...

Alas, as I recall, it was in French as well. :( But Hestia is sounding about right thus far.

... Ok no surprises why Hestia was a virtual unknown to you :)

Greek goddess of hearth and home
Appearance: A sweet, modestly dressed young woman. She often is shown wearing a veil.
Symbol or Attribute: The hearth and the tamed fire which burns there.
Strengths: Constant, calm, gentle, and supportive of the family and home.

Although to its accuracy ... I can't check the Louvre site/virtual tour because I refuse to have Quicktime on my machine ... :( ... It looks like it has one too many letters to be VENUS

The pedestal says "Venus"

When all else fails read that label?

I was *sure* that it wasn't Venus when I read the plaque... but I could me wrong.
