11-hour shifts

I used to wonder how doctors in hospitals could pull those insane double-digit shifts on the two-weeks-on/two-weeks-off roster thing. That was before I started my PhD. I'll be here today for probably about 11 hours, all up, and I'll have to come into the lab tomorrow as well. Because I have too much work, and not enough hours in the day. That, and you need to give bacteria time to grow.

Had a 90 minute meeting with one of my supervisors today. Found out that my preliminary work in a certain area was shiteful, and needs to be way repeated. Basically, I need to do heaps more research and heaps more experiments to make it go. ANd this was only supossed to be a minor part of my work. Ouch. I dread my thesis.

I was going to meet up with morgan303 today, but she got uber sick and I told her to stay home. Instead, I had my first look at the shiny new dental building we'll be moving into at the end of the year. Even chose an office with my fellow students and everything. Although why I am one of the immunology students still eludes me.

I want to know where all my time went. Sigh.

It's hard work being a student sometimes. If you don't see me this weekend, it's not because I don't love you, it's because I am working in an aspestos filled building on dog plaque samples.

BTW - this is what I mean by 'Broken' (for unsworn_nomore and others who are interested) : http://www.megatokyo.com/index.php?strip_id=346

The Full 'Broken Miho'
The picture that appears in the MegaTokyo strip is a cut down version of the art that appears on Fred Gallaghers other artwork site www.fredart.com (http://www.fredart.com) and I just thought you might like to know.

It's cool how many of the people I remember from my first year at uni have livejournals, it's good to find out what everyone's up to. :)
